This term our topic is STONES AND BONES

This term we will be finding out about the Stone Age. Children will explore how we know about this time and think about the things we cannot find out about. They will then learn about the transformation from hunter-gatherers to farmers and why this change occurred. Looking at the period from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. At the end of term, we will be visiting Stonehenge thinking about why and how Stonehenge was built and what it was used for. 

Please ensure you have given your child permission to attend STONEHENGE

This week (wc 13th October 2019)

English: We will be continuing to look at the story Rumpelstiltskin. The children will have a go at changing elements of the story and rewriting it. 

Maths: We will be looking at addition and subtraction. The children will learn how to use written methods to support carrying out the calculation.  

Topic: We will look at how the Bronze Age developed into the Iron Age. 

Please remember out trip is on Wednesday children will have the opportunity to look deeper into the Stoneage by visiting Stonehenge.

 Next week (wc 20thOctober 2019)

English:  Children will be writing a non-chronological report about their trip to Stonehenge.

Maths: We will continue to look at addition looking at written methods to support calculations.

Timetable focus: Throughout the year we will be using timestables Rockstars in class. Please continue this at home. By the end of Year 4 children are expected to know all their timestables.

Topic:  We will focus on Stonehenge and the history behind it.

Homework:

Reading: Please read with your child daily. Reading books will be changed weekly.

Spellings: Please practise the weekly spellings using the bingo grid ideas.

Maths: Please practise the key number facts. All children have access to Maths games using Doodlemaths and TTRS.
