We understand that choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions parents and carers will make. We invite you to find out more about us by:

  • Contacting the school office to ask any questions you may have and to arrange a tour.
  • Having a telephone or online conversation with our Headteacher Mr Alun Randell
  • Taking a look at our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds to get a feel for everyday life in the school and our sense of humour!

Reception 2022 admissions

Welcome Evening

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our Induction Evening on the 15th June at 6pm.  The evening is aimed at parents / carers. It will give you the opportunity to meet our fantastic team, learn about the school day, school routines, the timetable and the curriculum, along with visiting the classroom your child will start their educational journey in. There will also be the option of a full school tour for families who have not been able to visit the school previously

Settling In Sessions

We also offer several settling-in ’Stay and Play’ sessions for children and their parents/ carers. These sessions give your child the opportunity to explore their new school environment and meet their new classmates and their teacher. We understand that these times / days may not suit some of our families; please do not feel that you need to attend all of these sessions. It is your choice if and how many sessions you attend with your child.

During these sessions you are welcome to attend with your child or 'drop and go'. Each child is an individual ;You know your child best - please do what you feel is right for you both!

*If your child already attends our pre-school during these sessions our Early years staff will accompany them during the session. Parents/carers  are welcome to attend too if they wish.

Sessions -

27th June 1.320pm - 2.30pm

7th July 9.15am - 10.15am

12th July 9.15am  - 10.15am

With supply chains facing delays at the moment, we have been advised by our uniform provider that all school uniforms need to be ordered by the 27th May to guarantee delivery for September. If you wish to order your child’s uniform through our PTA, please complete the attached order form with your requirements and return to the school office via print out / email by the 27th May. If you have no access to a computer, please phone the office on 01761 412289 and we will be happy to take the order for you. Payment will not need to be made until collection which we anticipate to be week commencing 18th July. School uniform is also available from Norton Sports and Camping on the High Street if you prefer.

For your information, children come dressed in PE clothes 2 days per week and standard uniform 3 days. A variety of sizes are available in the office, if you wish to pop in to 'measure up'!

Reception Applications

Midsomer Norton Primary school is part of Bath & North East Somerset’s Coordinated Admissions scheme for parents/carers applying for a child starting school in Reception in September. All applications for admissions must be submitted to the Local Authority (LA) by the published closing date. The LA will forward all applications to the school and the Governing Body will rank all applications against the admissions criteria. The list will then be returned to the LA under the coordinated admissions scheme and they will make a single offer of a place on the published date.

'In - Year' Applications

Applications for 'In-Year' admissions (i.e. other than children due to start Reception in September) are made directly to the school. Please contact the school to arrange a school visit and to request an application form:

Midsomer Norton Primary School is an Academy and part of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership, and as such the Governing Body is the admissions authority. Our governing body applies the regulations on admissions fairly and equally to all those who wish to attend the school.
